Southwestern Social Science Association Allan Saxe Award – Best Paper in State or Urban Politics (2022).  Awarded for “Intergovernmental Relations in the 21st Century: Revisiting Preemption” (w/Yashas Mallikarjun). Presented at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Southwestern Social Science Association, Fort Worth, TX. $500 Award.

Institute for Constitutional History at George Washington University Law School and the New York Historical Society (2019). Stanford University, July 2019. $250 travel grant. 

Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) Subsidy (2019).  Awarded a HACU subsidy to attend the annual meeting of the Southwestern Association of Pre-Law Advisors (SWAPLA).  Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK. April 3-6, 2019.

Northeastern Political Science Association and Lanahan Publishing Best Graduate Student Paper Award (2015).  Awarded for “Speaking in Tongues? Understanding the Roberts Court Record on Freedom of Speech.” Presented at the 2014 Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Political Science Association, Boston, MA. $350 research grant.

University of the Incarnate Word Faculty Workload Reassignment Award (FWRA) (2021). Competitive award received to allow for completion of upcoming book project (Filming the First: Cinematic Portrayals of Freedom of the Press).

University of the Incarnate Word Provost’s Legacy in Teaching Award (2020). Award recognizing faculty dedication to teaching and learning; $500 stipend.

University of the Incarnate Word Faculty Development Award (2018).  Awarded $1200 to present research at the 2018 meeting of the Southwestern Social Science Association (Oct. 10-13; Orlando, FL).

All-University Dissertation Award of Syracuse University (2017).

Syracuse University Graduate Student Organization Travel Grant Award (2016).

Peter and Sharon Murphy Kissel Award (2016, 2013).  $2000 and $1500 scholarships for the study of civil liberties, with the goal of advancing “public understanding of civil rights and liberties through academic study and knowledge, student learning, and public discourse.”

Ketcham Award (2015). $4500 competitive, annual award to student whose research contributes to “open and just public life.”

Andersen Award (2015).  Competitive, annual award to sponsor students attending the Institute for Qualitative and Multi-Method Research (IQMR).

Syracuse University Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award (2014).  Awarded to top 4% of teaching assistants at Syracuse University.
